Twelve unproduced screenplays selected for the inaugural Main Character initiative, will be announced at Göteborg Film Festival 2027.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIAS

Have a completed screenplay that is unproduced

Be the writer, writer/director, or producer of the submitted project.

Authorised to submit the screenplay.

Be a citizen or legal resident of a European country.

Submit all application materials in English.
The submitted screenplay must:

Be an original feature-length fiction screenplay (approximately
70–120 pages), at any stage of development -
Any genre

A fresh perspective on any topic that you believe is missing from the cinema screen from or about Europe
Required Materials for round 1
Applicants must submit:

Logline (300 characters/ approximately 50 words maximum)

Short Synopsis (3 000 characters/approximately 200 words maximum)

Statement: Why is this story a European narrative that must be told? (2 000 characters maximum)
Creative materials will be anonymised before being evaluated by the selection panel.
